If you all don’t know Chris Crisman then you’re not following photography. He and his team are shooting everything, for everyone, these days and taking home every industry recognition at the same time. And I can honestly say that “I knew him when…”
He and his studio manager Robert Luessen were kind enough to give me an embarrassingly nice shout out on Chris’ blog today. My life in 10 questions.
I’m a little late on getting the news out, but this image from my Behind the Curtain project has been selected to appear in the upcoming American Photography 29 book, which is due out in November:

From 9,075 pictures entered by 875 photographers, magazines, agencies, publishers and schools, the jury selected, by a majority vote or better, only 300 images to appear in the book and represent the best pictures from 2012.

The image ran in Fortune Magazine last November and a lot of the credit for this accolade go to the crew over there for submitting the image. So, thanks to Director of Photography Mia Diehl and Photo Editors Michelle Wolfe, Armin Harris + Michele Taylor. Thanks!
To those that accepted a meeting with me, go the spoils, which in this case is a pack of hand-printed postcards from my latest foray to Los Angeles for the Polling Project.
I’ll be in NYC working on my Infrastructure project next Monday & Tuesday. If any editors would like to meet during that time, I’ll have my portfolio on hand. Send me an email if you’d like to do so: ryan AT ryandonnell DOT com
Enjoy the long weekend!
You can now find my work on @wonderflmachine - note that I’m all alone in Des Moines! #tothetuneofallbymyself
Check out the light redesign and content update at my portfolio site: www.ryandonnell.com. Who says Friday PR releases are just for bad news? Enjoy the weekend!
