Last June, I had the great opportunity to photograph one of the few remaining, truly family-run, traveling circuses in the US — the James Cristy Cole Circus. One of my favorite clients, Spirit Magazine, sent me to Gretna, NE, to document the event. And after a day and a half of torrential rainfall, we finally had some decent weather for the final performance of the stop.
The Plunkett family was a wonderful host and thanks, as always, to Emily Kimbro for the wonderful assignment. Read the article here.
Enjoy the Labor Day weekend!
Thanks to Dwolla founder Ben Milne for being game to smash things during our shoot earlier this month for MIT Technology Review’s INNOVATORS issue. That willingness (and creative director Eric Mongeon’s good taste and design) landed the photo on the cover. Check the article out here.
Also, big ups to Dwolla’s Jordan Lampe for his mad LEGO skillz and to the intern’s name that I don’t recall for the fab dry-erase marker skillz.
Just in case anyone actually reads my Tumblr, I’m sorry for the pause in posting recently. I’ve just moved homes (yet again!) and work in Iowa is picking up more than I anticipated.
On that same note, check out these random BTS shots from a VERY cool recent editorial shoot in rural, straight-road Nebraska. It was so tiring even the dogs were sacked. I’ll have more on that shoot in the future.
Thanks to fine assistant Patrick Geske for the shot of me. (If you’re ever in need of someone in the Omaha region - look the guy up. He’s great.
Check out this CNN piece about my Polling Place Project vis a vis Fortune’s article in the Oct. 29th issue. Thanks @theryanbradley and @miadiehl
